Oya incense set
Oya incense set
The Oya Incense Plate is a multi-purpose incense plate that utilizes the texture and characteristics of Oya stone. Oya stone is a tuff (volcanic ash that has accumulated underground or in the sea and solidified over many years) quarried only in the Oya district of Tochigi Prefecture. It has excellent fire and heat resistance, withstanding temperatures of over 1000 degrees Celsius, and is used in traditional cooking stoves (kamado), portable charcoal grills (shichirin), stone ovens, and incinerators. The unique texture of Oya stone, which varies from piece to piece, is another part of its appeal.
The poly incense holder is a bronze incense holder made using the lost-wax casting method, a high-precision casting technique. Its icosahedral form allows you to use it at three different angles. (It can be used with stick-type incense such as senko (Japanese incense sticks) and bamboo incense.)
Bronze has been used since ancient times for ritual objects in religious ceremonies. Even today, it is a material used for various purposes, such as coins, ornaments, and statues. Like brass and copper, it undergoes changes in color and texture over time due to surface oxidation. To allow you to enjoy this aging process, we have not applied any coating to the surface.
When incense burns out, a few millimeters may remain and be difficult to remove due to the sticky resin. However, because there is a small hole that runs through the incense holder, you can easily remove the remaining incense by pushing it out from the other side with a pin or similar object.
