This is a wooden lacquerware bowl from the "Urushi Wan Kyo-no-Na" series, inspired by Kyoto's famous Kyo vegetables. This particular bowl is modeled after the Kamo eggplant. The unique shape and color have been recreated through lacquer and lathe techniques. It’s a bowl that lets you feel the warmth of Kyoto in your daily dining.
The designer of this product is Kazunari Miyake (miyake design), who has also worked on product designs for MUJI. While incorporating the characteristics of the Kamo eggplant motif, careful attention has been paid to the rounded sides, the height of the base, and the size to make it convenient for everyday use.
