This sake vessel was designed by French designer Flavien Delbergue. Sake is made from the blessings of abundant nature: rice, water, soil, and the four seasons. With the theme of "gratitude for the blessings of nature," the design was inspired by the gesture of cupping clean water from a spring in one's hands and the beauty of traditional Japanese rituals of drinking sacred sake (omiki).
The name "Ryote" (both hands) was chosen to reflect the fact that both sake and this glass are made by human hands.
