This is a Japanese plate created by Noboru Yamada, a traditional craftsman. The skills of Noboru Yamada, a Kyoto kimono gold leaf artisan, have been captured in this glass vessel. As each piece is handmade, no two are exactly alike.
Henyaki Hakugin Hyouwari Kuroji "変焼き箔銀氷割黒地" describes a technique where silver leaf is heated unevenly to create a crackled ice-like pattern and then applied to a black lacquered surface.
