This is a Japanese plate created by Noboru Yamada, a traditional craftsman. The skills of Noboru Yamada, a Kyoto kimono gold leaf artisan, have been captured in this glass vessel. As each piece is handmade, no two are exactly alike.
Kawariyakibakuwa Enji "変り焼き箔輪エンジ" describes a technique where specially treated, heated gold leaf is applied in the shape of a ring or circle onto a deep red background. This creates a striking contrast between the shimmering gold and the rich red, lending a luxurious and elegant feel to the piece.
